Short, medium and tall taps
Short taps are generally suitable for smaller basins which you will find in cloakrooms or smaller bathrooms. As a rule where you find double tap sets they are likely to be a quite small set. The most classic of taps is of course the double set with a cross head and curved spout with the white disc and H and C markings. This classic tap would have been brass but is now re-invented into a modern day twist and can typically be found made of brass with solid chrome plating. This finish is now typical of most taps no matter what the size.
Medium and tall sized taps can be found more on pedestal basins or mounted directly on to a counter top positioned over a counter top basin. If you are looking for a tap for a counter top basin you will need a tall model to ensure that it is high enough to reach over the top of the basin. Modern mixer taps have opened up this category and the ranges available on mono mixer taps is superb. You can find a wide range at Bathrooms.com as well as all the basins and complete bathroom suites that you could possibly imagine.
The very tallest taps around for your bathroom are stand pipe taps which are suitable for use with freestanding baths. The very nature of these taps mean that they have to be tall to reach over the side of your bath to fill it with water.
Look out for models that have a hand shower attachment as they are very useful and fulfil all the functions that you might need all in one unit.
