Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive

The WEEE Directive came into force on 1 July 2007.

Under the legislation electrical products must be marked with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol, in order to help consumers identify that the product must not be disposed of with household waste, but instead should be taken to a WEEE collection point for recycling.

CPS has joined together with other UK Retailers to establish a national fund - the Distributor Take-back Scheme.

The Distributor Take-back Scheme provides funding to Local Council Civic Amenity Sites, enabling them to receive electrical waste from consumers and arrange for it to be recycled. As CPS is a member of this scheme we do not offer a WEEE take-back service in our stores.

To locate your nearest WEEE collection point go to www.recycle-more.co.uk.
