The Toilet brush is one bathroom item that many of us prefer not to talk about! A product often kept firmly out of view, our toilet brushes are usually relegated to the dark corners of our bathroom. Yet, used regularly and perhaps by several members of the home, little thought is given to the pivotal role they play in this environment.
Although such a small addition, our toilet brushes do play a huge part in ensuring the ongoing cleanliness of our bathroom. In fact, some experts would say that our toilet brushes are one of the most important bathroom accessories in this space!
Here, The Bathroom Showroom considers a quick and simple cleaning process for your toilet brush, ultimately ensuring a healthier bathroom.

How Often Should I Clean My Toilet Brush?

Each time that you use your toilet brush, it’s highly advisable to rinse it. This can be done effortlessly with clean water from the toilet as you flush it. By doing this, all that bacteria that's present on your brush doesn't have time to thrive.
When you've done this, allow the brush to dry naturally, holding it in between the toilet lid and letting the remaining water drip into the bowl.
However, when it comes to a deep clean, once a week is recommended when washing your actual toilet brush. This will ensure that you can alienate any potential bacteria present on your brush and create a toilet brush that is as good as new every seven days.

The Best Way To Clean a Toilet Brush Properly

Cleaning a toilet brush is actually one of the simplest jobs to tackle. You can use either hot soapy water or a combination of white distilled vinegar with baking soda. Both choices are not only effective but kinder to the environment, as opposed to bleach.
For a vinegar and baking soda concoction, use half a cup of white vinegar and half a cup of baking soda, adding several drops of an essential oil choice to ensure a pleasant aroma as well.
  • Firstly, give your toilet brush holder a quick clean-out using your preferred choice of cleaner.
  • Then, take your natural cleaning solution and fill up the toilet brush holder halfway.
  • Place your toilet brush into the holder so it’s submerged in the solution.
  • Leave the brush to soak for at least an hour.
  • Remove the toilet brush from its holder and rinse it in clean water, preferably placing it into the toilet and flushing.
  • Allow the brush to air dry.
  • Meanwhile, take your toilet brush holder and give it one last final clean with your natural solution and allow it to dry.
  • When the toilet brush is dry, place it back into the toilet brush holder. Your toilet brush is now as good as new.

How Often Should I Replace My Toilet Brush?

Because of the extensive use your toilet brush is put through regularly, it’s a good idea to replace it every six months. A good cleaning routine, such as that mentioned above, should ensure that your brush isn't a hotbed for germs and bacteria to breed and multiply.
Yet, if you use plastic brushes or you begin to notice your current brush isn't working as well, is discolored, out of shape, or smells unpleasant even after cleaning, now may be the time to purchase a new one.
The Bathroom Showroom offers a fabulous selection of modern or traditional style toilet brushes, from exceptional ranges such as Hib, Crosswater MPRO, Roca, and VitrA, to name just a few.
